Cambodian School nears completion

We are excited to report that the $500,000 school building project in Andong is nearing completion. This brand new primary school has been built for the families in Andong slum village on the outskirts of Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh. It is the realisation of a 14 year dream for Pastor Abraham Hang. You may recall that Andy & Keith visited the building site almost 12 months ago.

Like the rest of the world, Cambodia is feeling the Covid-19 pinch with most schools in the country still closed, however, Abe is hopeful the new Andong Village Primary School will be up and running this month.

This new school is more than a building, it is already creating a great deal of HOPE among the villagers who are struggling to find anything positive to focus on during the global pandemic. Many of them are without jobs and there is no government support to keep them going until things improve.

The school is almost completed, however there have been some final and unexpected financial challenges. There is an additional fee for connecting the wastewater system up to the street mains (approx AUD $12,000). And fencing around the school to keep students safe during recess and lunch (this could range between AUD $7,500-$30,000).

Please continue to pray for this building project, for Abraham and his teams of teachers and pastors and for the students who will come to learn in this space.
