Children are important to Jesus: he demonstrated the way God loves, trusts, and values children and how we can learn from them.

In Spring Kids we want to love children, to nurture their faith and relationship with God in a friendly and safe environment. We offer a lightly structured and inclusive space, where children spend time getting to know God and each other.

We support parents and believe that most faith learning happens in the home. Our role is to reinforce the teaching and discipling that parents are doing in the home.

We use age-appropriate interactive teaching strategies, games, singing, acting, and multimedia to reinforce our learning from God’s Word. We love stories, listening and sharing together.

Class groups

Spring Chickens: 2-4 years

  • The first 5 years of life are full of learning and play. We place a lot of value on the teaching that happens gently and lovingly in these early years. Here the children learn that church is a safe, fun place where they learn about God’s love, about Jesus their friend and find their place in God’s family, the church. This is not glorified baby-sitting! This is where the foundations of the faith are laid. We love these little ones!

Spring Bugs: Kinder to Year 2

  • As their understanding grows, we begin to use more active learning. Being faithful to the Bible we re-tell stories that engage children. We practise prayer and encourage reflection and questions in sharing times. Children play games related to the theme and enjoy craft or other activities.

Springers: Year 3 to 5

  • This group loves to be active, enjoys team games and outdoor activities. We provide a time for telling a Bible story, prayer and a reflection time where questions are given and received. Relationship building is important to this age group, so a regular pair of team leaders work with them routinely.

Loft Group: Year 6 to 9

  • We have just introduced a group for our young teens and tweens. This group aims to transition them through this challenging life stage, giving them a faithful group of older peers and leaders they can talk to about their growing questions and uncertainties. There is a lot of research that indicates that this age-group need positive peer groups and role-models. This group meets in the loft and have snacks and work through video-based Bible studies such as Youth Alpha.
