Cambodia Mission Trip – December 2019

Keith and I embarked on a 10 day trip to Cambodia with the purpose of growing our partnership/friendship with Abraham Hang and the Development for the People of Cambodia’s (DPC) ministry in Cambodia. We would achieve this by spending time with Abraham, but also assisting Abraham in ministry at the two Christmas outreach services held at the schools our church supports.  Our time was spent primarily at the two schools, in Andong and Oddar Meanchey, in ministry to the students: running bible studies, songs, skits, games. We also ministered at two churches in Andong, preaching and sharing testimonies.

At each school we sat down with the teachers and prayed with them. Many shared of how grateful they were for Wellspring and our partnership with DPC. It was very humbling, a time we wish all of Wellspring could have seen.  Seeing how the teachers go about their work, teaching and discipling the hundreds of kids was overwhelming but we were greatly encouraged that Wellspring gives money to these teacher’s wages to allow this to happen!

It was an encouragement to me to see God’s faithfulness in action. There’s a certain amount of fear you carry into cross cultural ministry when it is unknown what is expected of you. Yet God used Keith and my giftings accordingly. In every circumstance that we were thrown into, we always had something that we could offer whether that be preaching, running a classroom, games, prayer, music teaching etc.

A highlight for me was participating in a bonfire/communion night with 50 of the older students in Oddar Meanchey. Keith and I shared and then prayed for each individual there. Students wrote on paper sins they wanted to confess and prayers for the year ahead before throwing them into the fire. The students were also able to share these things if they wanted to. It was amazing to see so many young people on fire for God.

A highlight for Keith was when the kids participated in the skits we ran and they learnt who Jesus is and that they can trust Jesus from the parable of “building on a solid foundation” from the book of Luke.  From Prep to Grade 6, all the students interacted and participated and you could really see the Spirit at work within them!

We are looking forward to the next trip and welcome any enquirers about this by email: cambodia@wellspring.org.au

We are also planning a couple of quiz nights for 2020 and other fundraisers that you will be able to get involved in so we can continue to raise much needed funds for Abraham and his ministries.

If you’d like to give in a tax-deductible way please check out our site and links to Global Development Group here.

Thank you for all your prayers for our trip and continued prayers for Abraham and his ministries.
